Hofn
Hofn is the principal port in eastern Iceland and remains a thriving fishing town. It sits beneath Vatnajokull, Europes largest Icecap. It is a pretty town with access to numerous amenities, although the main attraction has to be the Vatnajokull Icecap. There are many routes up onto the Vatnajokull Icecap, the easiest is up the road on the broad glacier spur, Skalafellsjokull. This excursion is a real polar style expedition. There are many 4 wheel drive tours commencing from the town up to the glaciers.
